Client ETA – Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Client ETA arrival link?

The arrival link is a temporary link that allows a client to share their journey progress with you. Once location access is allowed, Client ETA uses the information to provide estimated arrival updates while they are travelling.

How do I send an arrival link?

Create the arrival link from your Client ETA member area and send it directly to your client. They simply open the link in their browser and follow the instructions shown on screen.

Does my client need to download Client ETA or create an account?

No. Clients do not need an account or the Client ETA app to use an arrival link. The link opens directly in their browser.

What does the client need to do after opening the link?

They will be asked to allow location access. Once permission is granted, Client ETA can begin providing journey and estimated-arrival updates.

Can I see my client's exact location?

Client ETA is designed to provide useful arrival information without unnecessarily displaying a client's precise location. The member receives ETA and relevant journey/status information rather than needing to watch an exact address or pinpoint location.

What happens if the client stops moving?

If Client ETA detects that the journey is no longer progressing, the arrival information may stop changing until new location information shows that the journey has continued.

Will the ETA change while the client is travelling?

Yes. The estimated arrival time can update as new journey information becomes available. An ETA is an estimate and may change because of traffic, route changes, stops or other journey conditions.

What happens if location sharing is paused or stops?

Client ETA will no longer be able to provide normal live journey updates until location information becomes available again. The client will be informed when location sharing is no longer active.

Does the arrival link stay active permanently?

No. Arrival links are temporary and are intended only for the relevant booking/journey. They are not designed to provide permanent access to a client's location.

Can the same link be used to track the client later?

No. Once the relevant arrival session has ended or expired, the link should no longer provide ongoing location information.

Why is the ETA sometimes different from the client's map/navigation app?

ETA calculations can change as updated location and journey information is received. Different navigation services may also calculate routes and traffic differently, so the times may not always be identical.

What if the client doesn't want to share their location?

Location sharing through the arrival link requires the client's permission. If they choose not to allow location access, Client ETA cannot provide the live arrival updates for that journey.

Is the arrival link only for tracking?

The purpose of the link is to provide temporary arrival and journey information connected with the booking. It is not intended as permanent location tracking.
